We know that in Bratislava and its surroundings, skilled IT employees can choose, but if you don’t want your CV to look suspicious, it’s also not in your interest to change jobs often.

We are a small company with large and interesting projects, very efficient management, a maximally relaxed corporate culture, and management based on the “Teal” principle. We don’t have hierarchies, nobody reports to anyone, we have a minimum of “tables”, and the team manages itself.

Working hours

It’s up to you how you arrange your working hours. Colleagues do standard working hours, but we also have those who do weekends and have days off during the week, and those who do not work full time and are also involved in their private projects or simply enjoy a long weekend.

At Altamira, we do not require compulsory attendance just so everyone is sitting at work, because “they should so”.

Have some reasonable rules in place, which are then followed so we can calculate your working time correctly when planning our projects.

However, you should communicate with your entire micro team and see if everyone on your project is OK with you arriving at noon. It is important to pursue agreed meetings, deadlines and adapt your working hours to your colleagues from the project you are working on. Anything is possible – all you have to do is communicate. However, absolute freedom must be balanced by your absolute responsibility for your decisions. If your decision to go to work at noon causes a problem somewhere, you’ll know for sure.

Workplace

It’s no problem if take your job home if it suits you better. We have colleagues who do 2-3 days on home-office and 2-3 days in the office, we have those who do their job completely remotely, but also those who prefer the office. We have premised a few steps from the Main Station in Bratislava, so you can get to any part of the city comfortably. Even with parking, it’s not a tragedy yet. And if you’re not from Bratislava and you get used to traveling home by train (because it’s eco-friendly), you’ll appreciate the possibility of walking to the station.

Technologies

Everyone works on Macs, it’s a standard here. But if Windows or Linux suits you better, no problem, your mistake :-). We will convince you. We will provide you with hardware, so your job flows quickly, and you don’t complain (or not come up with excuses?) about lack of performance.

We are evolving along with technologies. You don’t forget old knowledge, but you benefit from it.

We do backends in PHP (in what else?). We have many projects on frameworks like CakePHP and Nette and we also see the future in Laravel. We experiment with October CMS, but we won’t get lost in WordPress or Drupali either. In Slovakia, we are one of the few certified partners of Shopware, which is a German e-shop unit. Yes, we work for German-speaking countries a lot, so if you know German, it’s a small insignificant advantage!

Management and team in Altamira

More of our developers are full-stack, but we are also looking for specialized programmers. Full-stack is created historically in our country. Technologies are evolving and we are adapting. You don’t forget older knowledge, but you benefit from it.

We don’t have a fixed corporate hierarchy, your “superiors” will be superiors not because someone said it, but because they gained their authority with their experience and skills.

We work on projects in micro-teams, which the leader determines. Usually, it’s the most experienced one. You will learn a lot, not only about programming but also about communication and collaboration., We use some agile SCRUM practices where they make sense, but we don’t pretend to implement SCRUM in all its beauty and strength. More than planning, management, or estimation, we focus on reality and adapt.

Benefits

The buzzword of the year. We all have multisport cards, we all have gardens, barbecues, team buildings, sports activities, corporate breakfast, fruit, sweets, raw cakes, blah blah blah. Yes, us too :-). But one of the biggest benefits is freedom and a flat structure. Have you heard of teal management? If not, it doesn’t matter, we’ll explain. Are you still a student?

Get in touch. You can do a (paid) internship. You can get an internship that, for example, will result in a bachelor’s or master’s thesis. You combine the pleasant with the useful: you create a real product for a real client, you earn money, and you fulfill your school obligations. And if you’re good enough, you’ll get a full-time job right after school. (True story.)
